Opole

Opole is the capital city of Opolskie Voivodship which is situated in the south-west of Poland. The city is located on the Odra River and has a population of 129,946. Opole is the industrial, trade, financial, academic and cultural centre of the region. The leading sectors are the construction, power and food industries and the production of machinery and equipment. The service and trade sectors also play an important role in the city’s economy. The city is governed by the mayor, three deputy mayors and the city council which consists of 25 members. Opole is a part of Larger Urban Zone (LUZ) with a population of 266,518 that covers an area of 1,683 km2.
