Lublin

Lublin is the largest city in eastern Poland and the capital of Lubelskie Voivodship with a population of 357,110. Lublin is also the oldest city in this region. The city is the administrative, industrial, academic and cultural centre of the region. Key industry sectors are van production, machinery, food, leather and clothing industries. The economy of Lublin is currently being reoriented towards the service sector. The city is well-known for its catholic university. Lublin’s natural beauty and unique places of historical interest also attract many tourists. The city is governed by the mayor, four deputy mayors and the city council which consists of 31 members. Lublin forms a part of the Larger Urban Zone (LUZ) inhabited by 651,578 people, covering an area of 2,883 km2.
