Aarhus

Aarhus is located in the North-East of Denmark, and has a population of 287,000. The Aarhus region is home to a significant cluster of activity within the food industry. The city is also renowned for its IT competencies within computing, object and media technology, and computer supported co-operative work. The city is a global leader in the fields of environmental management and sustainable energy, and much R&D takes place in the sector of life sciences. Aarhus city council is made up of 31 members. The citizens of Aarhus elect a new council every four years. The members of the council then elect the mayor and five aldermen. The city is part of a Larger Urban Zone (LUZ) of just under 641,000 inhabitants that covers an area of 4,561 km2.
