Koblenz

The City of Koblenz has a history of more than 2000 years. It is located on both sides of the River Rhine and the River Moselle, their confluence being marked by the famous monument “German Corner” (Deutsches Eck). Koblenz with a population of 106,000 is the third largest city of the German State of Rhineland-Palatinate (Rheinland-Pfalz).

The city’s well-mixed economy comprises large and medium-sized enterprises of various branches of manufacturing, trade and services. Important administrative and legal authorities of the state and the county (Kreis) are based in Koblenz. The city is also an important transit centre for the railways in the Rhine valley and for the Rhine shipping route.

Koblenz is part of a Larger Urban Zone (LUZ), as defined by the Urban Audit, of 321,000 inhabitants covering an area of 922 km².
