Bonn

Bonn is located on the River Rhine in the German federal state of Nordrhein-Westfalen (North Rhine-Westphalia) and was the capital of Western Germany before German reunification. The city has a population of 306,000. Due to its capital heritage, Bonn is home to numerous UN organisations and non-governmental organisations as well as federal ministries and governmental administrations. It also has a famous university. The city’s retail sector is very dynamic. Bonn's development into a major centre for information technology and telecommunications is the city's most remarkable achievement. The most important German logistics service is operated in Bonn supporting TV and radio broadcasts. A large number of international congresses are held in the city. The city is part of a Larger Urban Zone (LUZ), as defined by the Urban Audit, of nearly 880,000 inhabitants that covers an area of 1,295 km2.
