Schwerin

Schwerin is the capital of the German federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Mecklenburg-West Pomerania). The city has a population of just under 100,000. Financial and business related activities are a growth sector in the city. Tourism is also a major driver of the city’s economy. Ministries and almost all the governmental agencies of Meckenburg-Vorpommern’s government are seated in Schwerin. The city is part of a Larger Urban Zone (LUZ), as defined by the Urban Audit, of 342,000 inhabitants that covers an area of 4,880 km2.
