Regensburg

Regensburg is located on the River Danube in the German federal state of Bayern (Bavaria). The city has a population of 127,000. It is the oldest city in Germany, founded in 179 A. D. The number of innovative information and media companies is growing in Regensburg while key industries such as biomedicine, genetics and biotechnology have exploited the city´s business and university infrastructure and taken advantage of the city’s good accessibility by road, rail and waterways. The location of key high-tech companies underlines the importance of science for the city´s economy. Tourism is also essential to the city´s economic well-being. The city is part of a Larger Urban Zone (LUZ), as defined by the Urban Audit, of over 411,000 inhabitants that covers an area of 2,540 km².
