Praha

Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic and has a population of 1.2 million, making it the largest city in the country. Prague’s economy benefits from a large service sector, accounting for 77% of all jobs in the city. This sector balanced a slump in traditional industries during the 1990s and helped to keep the unemployment rate the lowest in the country. Prague is home to the old Charles University, as well as a variety of top health establishments. The city’s core is included on the UNESCO list and attracts around 2.5 million foreign tourists a year. Prague is divided up into 57 parts each with their own elected councils and into 22 basic districts for state governmental functions. The city as a whole is administrated by a City Council composed of 70 members elected every four years, including the mayor and his board. Prague is part of a Larger Urban Zone (LUZ), covering an area of 6,977km2 and a population of 1.9 million.
